Daniel Armstrong

Research Content & Reservations Executive

With a background in Screenwriting and a passion for cinema, Daniel draws inspiration from the world around him. As such, there are few industries better to observe the world and all its muses than that of travel. Like many students hot off the heels of university, Daniel began searching for an opportunity to put his degree to good use. Such an opportunity presented itself in the form of sustainable travel. Travel had played a huge part in Daniel’s life from a very early age, having been raised abroad for a number of years, the sensation of traversing the world was firmly instilled and destined for further exploration.

Thanks to this exposure, Daniel began to develop an interest in the history of the world and the many different cultures that exist within it. However, you can’t continue to travel the world if there is no world left to travel. This revelation invoked a great respect and admiration for the theatre of sustainable travel and opened the door to new opportunities.

When observed through the scope of sustainability, the realm of travel presents new dimensions, obstacles and challenges, all of which require a great deal of attention and accountability. Revolutionising the future of travel is no easy feat, yet the future itself may well depend on it. Like most things uncertain, the future can be a scary prospect.

When perceiving the world through the eyes of a screenwriter, you’d be forgiven for judging the latest Act pessimistically – awaiting each scene in the show of our planet with a sense of ambiguity. Though, however uncertain, the show must go on, and Daniel will be there, pen and paper in hand, taking note.

Where would you visit if you could travel anywhere in the world?

Of all the spectacular travel destinations around the world, if granted the opportunity, I’d make a hasty departure for the Seychelles and spend the entirety of my holiday soaking up the pristine tropical atmosphere at Anse Source d’Argent – one of the most beautiful and alluring white-sand beaches to be found anywhere in the world. Until that day, the picture pinned to my wall and screensaver alike serve as a reminder of adventures to come.

What can’t you travel without?

When travelling anywhere in the world, there are two items I find essential. A notepad and pen are among the most important items you can take anywhere, especially when traveling the world and exposed to new forms of inspiration, the likes of which cannot be found at home. Whether scrawling down the sights before you or transcribing your adventures, an excursion abroad would be incomplete without this crucial piece of luggage.
