My move towards a writing career was a late one. At College, I studied four years of Creative Music Technology, learning how to mix and produce music in both a home and a studio setting. During this time I released an album of my own under the stage name ‘Atronach’, borrowed from the video game series The Elder Scrolls. I then did an apprenticeship in Sports Coaching for young children, teaching a variety of sports in various Primary Schools before returning to the College to complete a Bachelor’s Degree in Creative Industries.
My love of music remains, as does my love for sport. However, ever since my school days, one part of my skill set has been consistently praised: my writing ability. After completing my apprenticeship and degree, each in two very different fields, I decided to give professional writing a go.
After doing some freelance work for a few months, the opportunity to write for Pure Breaks came up and I haven’t looked back since. Another interest of mine has always been Geography, and in the last few years I really woke up to environmentalism. This job combines the two, allowing me to promote travel to exotic places that actively engage in eco-friendly practices. Researching articles in particular is brilliant, as I get to learn about the world and pass that information on to other people in my own unique way. I’ve also been given the opportunity to write about music on a couple of occasions, so my passions are being utilised.
Visiting Austria was quite special. I’d never quite had a holiday like it; surrounded by the Austrian Alps, it was absolutely stunning. Also, I once stood in three countries at once, at the hilltop triple border between Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. I can’t remember the specifics, but I had one leg in one country, one leg in another, and the rest of my body above stood in the country that split them. That was very fun.
I would absolutely love to move to Australia. I have been fascinated with that country ever since I was a child, largely thanks to Steve Irwin, and even today, many of my favourite creators are from Australia. It is a dream to perhaps emigrate there one day – I’ve even been practicing my accent!
